Refreshed conference format features joint Visionary Addresses and new tracks
SINGAPORE, 21 February 2013 - The much-anticipated annual conferences held at CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia are back in a new format with a joint visionary address and a cross-industry C-level panel discussion encompassing the ICT, broadcasting, pro-audio, film and TV industries. More than 210 global thought leaders will provide fresh insights on the dissolving boundaries in the field of communications, from 18 to 21 June 2013 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
Joint Visionary Address Will Unveil a Meeting of Minds
For the first time, delegates from both the CommunicAsia2013 Summit and BroadcastAsia2013 International Conference will be participating in a two-part visionary address on 19 June 2013. The first is the Governmental Visionary Address by the Minister for Technology, State Government of Victoria, Australia, The Hon. Gordon Rich-Phillips. This is followed by the Industry Visionary Address by Mr. Karim Temsamani, Head of Asia Pacific, Google.
Titled ?ICT enabled Government ? a new approach to buying and using ICT from Victoria, Australia?, the Governmental Visionary Address will discuss how the Victorian Government, through its recently released ICT Strategy, sets out on its roadmap to deliver better services, reduce waste, encourage innovation and improve ICT procurement across government. This will also highlight the intention of the strategy to help align processes across departments and set clear lines of governance, accountability and direction.
The Industry Visionary Address will highlight how the Asian consumer is pushing the world?s Internet to new directions. Over the next few years, Asia can expect to see millions of new mobile Internet users enter this booming market. These new consumers will approach the Internet with different needs and expectations, compared to their Western counterparts 10 years ago.
Mr. Karim Temsamani, Head of Asia Pacific, Google says, "Asians are digitising their lives at a faster pace than people in almost any other region and most of the new users to join the Internet over the next decade will come from Asia. Asia already dominates the market for smartphones. The challenge is to look beyond devices to focus on how Asians are rebuilding their businesses, societies and cultures on the Internet in ways that were unimaginable just three years ago. The challenge for businesses is to anticipate and accelerate these changes in Asia, which is coming to define the global Internet."
Business Leaders to Discuss Technological Convergence Challenges Ahead
As the link between broadcast technologies and telecom technologies gets stronger, and the overlap of technologies more evident, CommunicAsia2013 Summit and BroadcastAsia2013 International Conference have conceptualised a joint panel discussion that will draw professionals from both industries. The ?Thought-Leaders Panel? of C-level executives will bring together telco companies like global satellite operator MEASAT, as well as broadcast companies like multi-media and content creator, Media Prima Berhad, to identify opportunities for collaboration between the telecom and broadcast industries.
?Over the years, we have been seeing more aggressive convergence between the telecom and broadcasting industries. We decided to hold a joint Visionary Address and ?Thought-Leaders Panel? this year to fulfil the need for a common platform for inter-industry discussion. These joint sessions will encourage industry think-tanks, service providers and content creators, to develop strategies to maximise reach and make business sense for both sides of the spectrum,? says Ms. Lindy Wee, Director, PR & Conferences, Singapore Exhibition Services.
